University Programs

A number of music schools and colleges provide opportunities for in-depth study of the Suzuki literature, observation of master teachers, and apprentice teaching. These programs are directed by registered SAA teacher-trainers and are usually two-year programs. Some programs lead to degrees with an emphasis in Suzuki pedagogy, while others offer Suzuki courses as electives.

Butler School of Music, University of Texas, Delaine Fedson

Suzuki training is available through a series of elective courses given over a 2-3 year period.  The courses will cover ECC, Books 1-4, and practicum, preparing the students to apply for the SAA’s Certificate of Achievement.

This program is unique in that it offers several years of supervised teaching experience through the Butler School String Project.
